But how can you compare that to a fresh cannoli, or a piece of almond torte or even a citron tart with an espresso?

Indeed. And not only in restaurants.

Some of my most memorable meals were at relative's houses.

While Helen and I were there we had to try a "REAL" pizza, they were horrible. Aussie pizza for me.

Walking past a gelatti outlet with a healthy quee we allowed ourselves to be sucked in. We had tried gelatti in Oz and decided it was rubbish.
Well what a treat we had, Mango you could taste, FANTASTIC. I think we had gelatti almost every day after cus we knew it was only rubbish waiting for us back in Oz.

Talking about our pizza experience in a restaurant I was talked into trying a "folded" pizza and that was good.

I am drooling about riding Italy and more gelatti :)

Italian gelato is something special.

However,  you should also try Sicilian granitta.  Sort of Italian version of a slurpee (although I'm sure granitta was the original). My grandmother used to make a lemon one that was so tart you'd walk around with a face like a cat's bum for a week!

One afternoon we were looking for somewhere to lunch spotted a restaurant in the middle of a paddock in northern Italy we were seated communication was a struggle. Justin asked the waitress to bring us their specialty over several hours we were entertained with mimes as the staff tried to explain what we were eating and drinking ,I had three half pissed and very contented companions when we left late afternoon the only sad thing is I don’t know if I could find the place again

Wow I could spend a whole day just there.

Park the luggage at the cafe and enjoy.

How many tyres would we need for a week ha ha

Fat change of Peeair starving himself, although a bit off the gut would be good ha ha
