Is that right, type slower than ya ride tippin you type at 200 wpm. Only time I saw you all day you said, "You alright lefty, see you at the bottom, see you at the top, see you at lunch, see you at the top, see you at the bottom, see you at the cars." man you and Shane can ride.
As for the day, it was great. I'm sure you'll elaborate on the finer details but it looked liked everyone had a ball. Picked a ripper day except for an hour or so when it pi55ed down. See ya on the next one.
PS. It is a step up from a level two rider but its worth the pain...

Haven’t run this ride for a while now, so itwas a brave crew that turned up on a grey and wet Sunday morning in Rawson.
After all the intro's were made we had a crew of seven ready to do battle in
the bush.
Some of us geared up for a wet ride, which turned out to be a mistake because
by the time we left the car park and got five minutes into be bush the weather
cleared and it became quiet warm inside all that wet weather gear.
Down Happy Jack trk we went, then over the bridge and into Mormontown trk then
into Britanna. Had a quick regroup at the Walhalla rd .There were smiles all
round as those last trks are a real hoot and very slippery.
The tks will start to get rocky from here on, I told the group as we headed towards Gladstone trk,
and then into some of the Deep Creek trks.
As we all know after a big downhill and a creek crossing the trk can only go
one way. That’s up, and that
s where the funstarted.
But guys this is not the hard bit, that’s further along. After numerous
attempts, a lot of sweat and pushing we all got to the top of the easy bit.
Truly the next hill is tough in those conditions in anyone’s book. Three riders
made the summit unassisted so their names shall be listed here for all to admire:
Jeff, Shane & Brad. Brad should get special mention as he had about seven attempts
and did not look like getting close, then bang, off the short run up he goes straight
to the top, to much cheering from the crowd ( couldn’t wipe the smile of his
face ).
Shortly after I had a run in with a sapling protruding across the trk at chest height.
I thought it would just push out of the way bit but it had other ideas. It
pushed me off the bike at speed. Now I know how medieval knights felt when hit
by a jousting pole. In hind sight I should have given it a bit more respect.
Regrouped again at the start of Fultens trk on Binns rd. Took awhile for the
tailman to arrive.
It was now one o’clock and we had only done less than forty
klms. Some of the clear plastic tanks had more empty space than fuel. I re
jigged the intended coarse, took out the harder Fultens hill for the more
cruisey Army trk to save time .
Arriving at Donnellys trk
we headed to S trk to start the trip home. Haven’t ridden S trk for some time so that was good fun.
Made our way over to one of my favourite trks. That’s Pheasant trk with it's
looooong down hill river crossing and a tricky slippery climb back to
Meringtons trk
.
While waiting on Merrigtons for the last coupleof bikes to arrive a 4wd comes tearing along and turns into Pheasant trk at
high speed we had to yell at him to stop so we could tell him to watch for our
guys still down there.
That prompted Shane to mutter the statement ofthe day
Never take a dickhead up the bush, you will always find one up there
Into Dream crk trk.
From there with it’s big river crossing allmade it no probs ( bit boring this mob ) the climb up to the top of ridge is a
ripper on this trk it
s long but fastand wide,  good for racing your mates .
One Spec trk was the next then into Dry Gullytrk thru to Binns rd. Now bear with me readers because this is where Deep crk

One starts and it is at its legendry best at the moment. The down hill from
this side is as rough as guts. I stopped just where it drops into the crk to
make sure all is well behind me. The look on Lefty
s face said it all! He stopped on top of the rise just behind us.
I’msure he was saying WTF are we doing here?
As we were going down the hill I noticed the sky was looking very black. Sure enough as we left the crk bed and started to
climb the heavens opened up. Being ride leader has its advantages. Being first
to the top allows you to shelter under a tree and watch the fun below. Rob was
having a bad day.
His rear tyre was destroyed and having a river now  running down the rut he was in didn’t help.
When the 300 hungy got to the top she had a full head of steam .

A regroup was in order when we hit the Walhalla rd. Brads 250 was very low on fuel so Rob & Shane donated some fuel in the
hope he could make the last 10 or 12 klms back to the cars. Along Mormontown
trk we headed and after a fresh shower of rain it demanded some respect. Not
too much front brake or you would find yourself face planted in the mud.
I waited at the bridge for the whole group to arrive.
All good, we still have everyone. From here its only 2ks to the cars
.
Soon as I got to the car I started to strip my wet gear off .
Nathan put his bike straight on the
ute then someone turns up and says Nathan, your mate
Brad has run out of fuel half way down the trk.
So he drags the bike
off the ute, finds some fuel and heads bake to rescue
Brad.   Shortly after they both return....  but wheres Lefty?
Brad said he didnt  go past me.
Clearly he too has run out of fuel.
So whos going back to get Lefty ?

Lefty who the F#*ks Lefty? Nnever heard of him. See ya, were going.
I should also mention that it
s  already past 5.30 at this stage and getting dark.
So in true Anzac sprit of never leave a man behind I dropped the trailer off my 4wd
and took some fuel down to our old mate.
you know we love ya Lefty J
So a big thank you to all who attended a great crew thanks to Lefty for  doing tail man all day.Till next time Jeff

Jeff, thanks very much for the fantastic ride. It's great to reflect back on the day while reading your report. Thanks again.
its a shame that photos never show how steel the hills actually are.  on the way home, Brad was kind enough to shout Maccas to repay his debt for me having to deliver fuel to him in the bush.

Lefty, thanks for being such a solid tail man all day. Great effort.

i have posted a few happy snaps on my FB page. If you want a copy, flick me a PM.
