The racing was fantastic, Great to see Marquez having to fight hard with Lorenzo for his 6th straight win. Was pissed when Miller felll on the last lap of Moto3.
But what really blew me away was the crowd and the atmosphere. Mugelllo has a big, natural steep grass bank around 80% of the track. It was packed so tight with spectators and little tents that it was hard work to walk thru, they must get there so early for a spot. There would have to have been around 100000 there.
Around this bank were hundreds of motor homes all camped for the weekend with lots of beer being drunk and loud music blaring.
In between these 2 areas were access roads packed with walking spectators and spectators on bikes trying to get thru ASAP. To help their passage many were on the horns but then there were the ones on the rev limiters but the real serious guys were on the rev limiter and hitting the kill switch for big bangs out of the very stressed exhausts mostly with limited mufflers. You had to be ready to cover the ears.
There was a huge Police presence but they were there to watch the races including those riding around in pairs on very well trained horses.
It was all about noise, there was a guy with a chain saw, less bar, mounted on a piece of wood strapped to his back with no muffler and a cable throttle. Another guy beat that with a chainsaw with a 1 mtr long megaphone. But the real serious guys had denonation devises about the size of 2 brief cases mounted on a stand with 2, 3 and the biggest had 4 megaphones. When they went boom they went FRIGGEN BOOOOOM! You could hear them all around the track.
But the most noise was when Rossi appeared on the screens or on the track, they adore him - FANTASTICO!!!!!
This is all the stuff you don't get on the TV - LOVED IT!!
