So I'm thinking of spending my stimulus money on a GPS for the Yamaha, from an Australian supplier of course.

Any recommendations or otherwise will be appreciated.

Are the standard mounts good enough.

Ken, I use my iphone with the Mudmaps app and it works well and i have it mounted on a Ram X Grip mount. This works well as you can plot and plan your next ride from phone or pc rather than using another device. A big drawback is in heavy rain you dont want your phone to get waterlogged and the other is you cant operate with gloves on so its works best if your route planning is done in advance.
I have never used a dedicated GPS so maybe they are a better option but this seems to work, the app is $100 and you get maps and updates supposedly forever.

Buy a paper map & spend the rest on red wine
its all about the ride not the destination!!

Thanks for that Rob.
I just want to keep it simple so one GPS device will be fine. I don't need music (Acropovic exhaust is all the sound I need) and I don't need phone calls (concentration is paramount for me, especially when hustling along)

I have just bought a Fodsprorts one like Serge and Damien have, It was cheaper than a waterproof phone, (about $100) with my $50 dollar discount for joining ebay plus. Seems to work ok.

Yep, like Robbo says, the cheap-arse Fodsports (eBay) is the go.

They're waterproof (apparently) and so cheap that if it gets stolen, or falls off, ya just buy another one!

Being budget minded I'm using my old galaxy 5 phone with an offline maps app.
