I'm at a point in my life where I want a change of career, I've done essentially the same thing for twenty two years and I've had enough. I have an idea of what I want to do but I'll keep that to myself for now.
my question is who here has taken the plunge and changed career and made a go of it, what did you do previously and what do you do now?
Has it worked out for you?
do you have any regrets?

I worked in Factories for pretty much from leaving School, then I took the Plunge about 10 Years ago with a Little pushing by John T and a Mate Trevor, and it took a while to get on my Feet, but now I wouldn't have it any other way.
Regrets: Only Regret is that I didn't take the Plunge Earlier.

Why don't you start up a Husqvarna Dealership :):)

18years working in my own business cracked the shits with life as it was and sold everything off closed the doors in december 2011 . Yes I miss the income but life is so much better, so little stress and enjoying working for 1 of the worlds largest organizations. Follow your heart and dreams and trust your intuition Nath. Good luck with whatever you choose.

My story is much the same as Pete's .

Worked in (screen printing) factories all my life, till I took the plunge and started my own business.  And like Pete, the only real regret is that I didn't do it earlier.

Having said that, after 30 odd years of (my) industry, I'm a little tired of it!

After 47 years of working my butt off I decided I had had enough so I quit, and I am loving it. Leaving for 7 weeks in Europe next Monday, look for me in the grandstand at Mugello rooting for Rossi and our Jack Miller.

I did have a dream job away from drafting which was working on motorcycles, the dream came true twice.

The first time was running the service department for the Victorian Suzuki importers for 2 years from 1975, loved the job, lots of bikes to ride, but the money was crap. Eventually Helen showed me the bank balance and it was back to drafting.

The second time I succumbed to the dream was as a service technician for the Victorian Yamaha importers in 1983 for 2 years. Once again it took Helen to show me the bank balance and it was back to the drawing board.

Ah well, sometimes you just have to try.

Good luck with your decision Nathan.

A bike shop would be great, but would leave little time to ride or do anything else.
I think the Indigenous people of this country have enough problems without inflicting me on them as a social worker!
