AMA is the Australian Motorcyclist Association, a new organisation set up to support grass roots motorcycle events.

The HCR will run under the AMA banner for this years event.

The following details how people can get a FREE 1 year AMA licence that would be suitable for the HCR. The AMA licence can be used at any AMA event, even those run by other clubs.

For riding Registered Bikes, which is a requirement for the HCR:

Participants on a Trail Ride wih a registered motorcycle must hold a current AMA Licence of ANY Class (A, B, C, D or E),

It is recommended that members get an AMA ADV Rider Licence, which is FREE and Class D.

The AMA also offer an ADV Rider + Licence for $15, which includes personal accident insurance during any AMA sanctioned event, anywhere in the world. Note that AMTRA do not require members to hold a +Licence to participate in the HCR, the basic free licence is sufficient.

Information on the AMA ADV licence is here: secure.advrider.asn.au/join-arca

When you get the licence it will be sent to the email address you provide. You will need to print this or have it available to show on your phone at the event, noting that the HCR is run out of phone and internet service.

Mat just so there is no confusion, my understanding is this is a way to get a license if you want one, you do not need one to participate in this years HCR.

No, looks like we need to run under AMA for the PLI as our one is not sufficient for Parks Victoria now. So getting preparation underway to inform HCR participants.

Is the family licence that I got for the Daylesford days sufficient?

There is a different licence for volunteers, just sorting out which one will be applicable. It should not cost anything and is added to your AMA profile.

When I signed up for the Family licence there was a Asistance Licence available that was for free. Is this the one we will be needing. :)

At this stage I will say "probably" There is also an equivalent volunteer licence applicable if the HCR is run as an "Adventure Ride" event, which is also free. Just trying to sort that out so I can tell volunteers exactly what to get.
