At least Will has a bike that could tow one!

Darche make a motorcycling sway, smaller and lighter than the normal ones. Otherwise there are heaps of hike tents and lightweight warm sleeping bags, just pricey if going for small warm and light.

Lots of really compact airbeds as well, roll up to not much bigger than a stubbie but inflate to 5-8 cm thickness. Also pricey but small and compact is going to be that way.

Me, will be taking the car.
The older I get, the slower I was.

I always take a good woman, at a pinch a bad one would do as well but they sap a bit more strength.

Two dogs have been know to work, no cheek or answering back, no big food or entertainment bills, perfect really.

Urals are good for carrying extras.
It's just more time to be flat out!

Hi Will
I prefer  tent over a swag a good sleeping bag, but mattress is most important get something insulated with down I have an exped it’s great but my son has a sea to summit I prefer that it packs up smaller and you can buy a storage bag that doubles as a pump inflates it in under 1 min
very comfortable you can sleep on the snow or hot sand and not feel it
spend up and look after it the light weight stuff is expensive and it looks delicate and flimsy but it lasts better than you expect
Cheers Dave

I bought a self inflating mattress from Aldi a year ago for about $30, very compact and pretty good quality (so far...)  and more comfortable than i expected so you don't have to spend big money.

Thanks Mat, for once small might be good or maybe we should refer to it as compact

Thanks Dave and Rob now where talking, I guess brands of quality gear is what I was hoping to find out so I can go hunting good second hand, I like swags but I know a tent gives you more room to escape the environment and to store your things. I agree about a good mattress, what do you guys do for a pillow and what brand sleeping bag is good for summer and winter or do you have a winter and a summer ones?
