When Yamaha launched the RT1, which was a DT1 with a 360cc engine, I just could not say no.

Bulk HP but not perfect. The thing was a bastard to start. If you were not fully committed the kick back would try to take your leg off. The compression ratio was too high, it would compression stall going down loose hills and was a pig to bump start.

Eventually mine broke the kick start idle gear and went back under warranty. "Seen a few of these" they said. When I picked it up nothing had changed so I decided to try fix it myself. First up I installed 2 head gaskets - not quite enough, so I trepanned a head gasket out of 1/8" thick aluminium. That did the trick and it would still show 90mph on the speedo. Loved it.

Note the carrier fitted to my "adventure bike" for more camping and trail riding trips - Yee Haaa!!!

It's just more time to be flat out!
