So I was sitting in the shed feeling a little bruised and the Honda 450 was looking very battered.

We had cartwheeled out of the lead of the All Powers C grade final exiting Siberia at Philip Island.

The man with the funny wig was still looking after my road licence, but I had to ride.

I decided not to race the 450 again, but after only 3 race meetings the racing bug had bit. The only other bike in the shed was the DT1 - Hmmmmm.

I already knew it was great fun in the twisties, even with the standard trials universals we could upset the road bikes.

OK - get rid of unwanted weight, buy some race tyres, upgrade the front brake and suspension, but it needed more horse power - Hmmmmmm.

I gave Geoff Taylor motorcycles in Frankston a ring to enquire about a GYT kit that Yamaha sold to upgrade the DT1engine for scrambles, oops sorry, MotoX. Geoff informed me he had a nice second hand one in stock and I was on my way.

The GYT kit consisted of cylinder, piston, head, carby and expansion chamber.

I gave the ports a tidy up, re-jetted the carb to run without the air filter and to push start with 3 steps for lightning get aways. We were now ready to visit Hume Weir race track in Albury/Wadonga for the first time as a racer, and see what we could do.

The Hume Weir race track was a tight little number laid out inside a dis-used quarry, we liked playing in dis-used quarrys.

It's just more time to be flat out!
