I was traveling to Las Vegas for a Sales Conference so took the opportunity to arrive a few days early and do a private dirt bike tour in the Nevada mountains.
A mate and I were picked up on Friday from the Las Vegas airport and drove 3 hours north to an old mining town called Pioche. Just outside town was the Eagle Valley Resort which served as our base camp where we stayed in comfortable cabins with hot showers. Breakfast consisted of a Bacon and Egg Burrito with a Grande cup (about a litre) of filtered Coffee with powdered milk called "Creamer". It's not the same a Melbourne Latte but it helped with the hangovers.
Our bikes were late model KTM's: A 300cc 2-stroke and a 350cc 4-stroke. We rode a variety of terrain including single trail, gully hill climbs, sand washes and open desert roads. We covered 150km each day in temperatures of 25-30 degrees C. Due to the fact there are NO tree roots I did not fall or step off the bike once in 300km of riding - that was a pleasant change from riding in Victoria.
Our tour guide dropped us off at our Hotel in Las Vegas on Sunday evening looking slightly dusty but with massive grins on our faces from an awesome weekend of riding.
If you are ever heading to the west coast of the USA and want to do a ride then contact Daryl from

I tried to post the photos inline however it wouldn't work for me so here they are as attachments...
