Sounds like gout to me !!!

I doubt it. I rarely drink and I thought you got gout from drinking too much.

My understanding is that gout is a build up of uric acid around the joins, typically in the extremities like toes.  are you sure you're p15sing enough?  It's a relatively simple thing to remidy, if that's the problem.

Stop being such a bloke and go to the quack!

Ok, read up about gout on the interweb. The symptoms seem to correspond. I know last week on those hot days I did not drink much as it was too hard to park where I was working and the shops were a long walk.  I thought only drunks got gout but it seems I was wrong.

Correct ! Not just an issue related to drinking. Shellfish, too much tomato based foods and or lots of caffiene products can raise the uric acid levels in your blood. With low hyration it crystalizes in the joints of your toes or sometimes ankles and it bloody hurts.

I dont like doctors. I can put up with nailing myself to a roof with a nail gun, cutting myself and needing lots of stitches but doctors (and dentists) have large scary syringes!

Yep!   sounds like gout.   Most commonly in the first joint of the big toe, though I have it I my hands as well.   Can be connected to food, but your body is simply not handling the uric acid which is generated from protein..      I take two tablets a day to manage it.    Has been ok now for the last few years.
Time for your trip to the doctor and a check up on the rest of us old mens dilemmas.
Good luck,
Phil R.

I broke my little toes about 2 Months ago, and the Doctor said it would heal in about 4 weeks, now I have a Pain in it that feels like someone is pushing a Pin in it, not all the time, but it hurts like hell.  At Holbrook we talked about it and I think it's gout. I will go to the Doctor about it this week.
