Heres a question....

Is there a reason why we don't have a facebook page?

Like it or not - it is a great way to get the publics interest and attract new members, its not all about the crap you hear about, that's the idiotic side of Facebook....but what if we were to set up a home page for people to look at and join,
Its very easy to kick people out and moderate and block them if need be, but most clubs have a page now an its a great marketing and fun tool.

It wouldn't be about posting rides etc...that's stays where it is but its a good social space.

We looked at Facebook a while back and decided at the time the upkeep demand was greater than the time "someone" had available.

I say "someone" as we were not able to identify anyone with an interest in doing it.

Personally I don't like Facebook, even though I have an account. I feel it got overrun by corporate and stupid money searching things that just bother you when trying to communicate.

If we can find someone willing to put the time in then it may go ahead. If not, it will stay as an idea.

Besides, my nephew has facebook and a motorbike, I would hate for him to find out about us.

I hate it with a passion - more drivel on there than anything else.

The forum here is fine for keeping tabs on what's happening, why complicate things by having multiple things to check.

Now, back to Candy Crush.....

I tend to agree with Pete (and Mat).

My understanding is that AMTRA will have limited control over things that get said, unless we have someone constantly monitoring it.  Not that i have a problem with people having their own view, but people often think that if they read it on the web, then it must be true! 

Some of us have been burned by these 'views'

AMTRA.com.au is my 'Facebook'.  The people I want to speak to (and ride with) are here.  More are welcome to join and I hope they do.

And, I only have to worry about what people say here.

Yeah some good points raised - I would love to volunteer to monitor it but I'm time poor so fair enough - a page dedicated to a topic isn't as bad as the usual chat threads but I see where the concerns are.

Im a regular facebook user.
Facebook's a brilliant thing when used correctly, its also used for advertising big and small events.  Most world and Australian motorcycle events get broadcasted over facebook. The dirtbike comunitiy is giagantic on facebook.
Iv often thought over the last year how greatly amtra would benefit from it. 

I'm going to be straight out blunt and say anyone who hasn't given it a weeks chance to work out how it operates and how to use it to benefit yourself and friends, shouldn't get a chance to judge it, diss it, and say its stupid.
