Redron I don't have any experience with the 64st, nor any others but I need to get something to help with laying out and leading longer rides (and not getting lost...) I've been using my phone to map tracks using an application "GPS Tracker", but it's not very accurate.  A great feature of the higher-end Garmins like the 64 is the ability to share tracks - so I could lay out a ride and then easily (wirelessly) give the map to anyone on the ride that has a similar device. Therefore everyone could ride at their own pace or do multiple laps etc...That would allow some alternatives to the traditional ride format of leader and tailman. Very interesting! Will look forward to comments of club members with experience of the Garmin or alternatives.... Cheers, Simon J.

Hi Red,

I have experience with a new Garmin InReach SE, it’s a great unit and I’m extremely happy with it. I’m quite certain you’ll be very happy with yours. I don’t use the SE for active navigation as the screen’s to small for me but it’s certainly not not a big deal and it’s something that one can learn to live with.

Have fun with it.

Hi Simon,

You might want to investigate the Voyager Pro, absolutely fantastic GPS system. I researched GPS and navigation units extensively when looking for a unit a couple of months ago, the Pro was by far the best unit by a big margin (I’m including the Garmin units in this comparison as well)

The Voyager Pro isn’t readily available in Australia at present but they are able to be purchased from Trailtech in the US via their web site.

I really love mine and couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Thanks Gerald, the Voyager Pro looks amazing - and some safety benefits with the rider tracking - would be great as a ride-leader to know where all your riders are (well, the ones that also have the Voyager Pro).  Would be about  AUD$800, expensive but not too bad for what it does. Thanks for the tip...
Redron thanks for the use of your thread...!
Cheers, Simon J.
