Hello AMTRA Members

I understand that it's tradition for new members to introduce themselves via a post so here we go.

My name is Gerald, a child of the 60’s. Locatedin North Ringwood.Returning to dirt bikes after many, manyyears of abstinence. Presently I’m “between bikes”, the hiatus being in excess of twenty years. I’m presently taking steps to rectify the no bike part of the equation.

As for skill level, I’ll risk a philosophicalmoment here. What has come with maturation is perspective, I know that time
away from the saddle has provided a fertile ground for my imagination to get completely blown beyond any semblance of fact based reality. A good set of training wheels is on the shopping list, so if any of you have a set I’d be
prepared to make an offer.

Motivation for joining, well, I like havingpeople to ride with. I’ve found this really, really handy in the past having on
hand, enthusiastic, experienced and capable peoplepower when retrieving my bike from the really stupid places that its occasionally ended up being “parked”.

I’m sure I’ll need this again.

I’m looking forward to meeting you on a ridesoon.

Gerald

Welcome Gerald!
AMTRA is a great club, and the more active riders we have the better...The great thing about riding in your older years is that you'll hardly feel tired or sore at all after a day in the saddle. It's amazing! May I ask what was your last bike and what are you planning to buy?? Cheers, Simon J.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the welcome. My last road bike was a CB 750/4 Honda. Dirt bike was a IT175 Yamaha. As for the next bike I'm almost convinced a 2018 300EXC KTM is going to be the go. G

Welcome to the club Gerald.
Don't mess with old bikers, they don't just look crazy. :)

My first motor bike ride at the age 13, 58 years later I'm still riding.

G'day Gerald
Helping other riders is what this club is all about as i found out last weekend.
i was on the DILIGAF Adventure ride with 9 other club members  & my Husaberg broke down in the bush in Southern NSW  One of the other club members, Richard is his name (I dont know his surname )& I had only met him the day before  towed me approx 50KM out of the bush to our overnight stop & then he offered to pillion me back to my car which was only 190Km away!!! thats right 190Km down one of the twistyist narrow roads i have been on lately It made the Black spur look like a freeway. He then rode back the 190Km to our overnight stop this is after we had already done nearly 200km before the berg broke down, so you dont have to worry if shit happens some one will be there to help you.
looking forward to meeting you
cheers Geoff
If you ask a stupid question you are a fool for a second. If you don't ask any questions then you are a fool forever!!
