Victorian PublicLands at Risk for Access to Recreational and Commercial ActivitiesATTENTION OUTDOORRECREATION ENTHUSIASTS in Victoria.
This could affect YOU.There is movement to turnthe majority of State Forests in Central West Victoria into State Parks - and
time is running out.

If these areas are turned to State or National Parks, they will
be CLOSED to hunting, gold prospecting, bottle and artefact collecting,
fuel reduction burns, managed wood collection of fallen and dead timber, stream
clearing, 4WD and trail bike riding, dog and other pet exercising. Camping will
be restricted to designated camp sites with payment of entry fees. Horse
riding may be allowed on specially designated tracks with payment
of permit fees, however, horse riding will be extremely limited, and
with a good chance being banned totally in these areas. Beekeeping will
only be allowed with permit fees at specially designated hive sites. We need to act now toprevent activists from getting their way. Please send submissions to:  http://www.veac.vic.gov.au/investigation/central-west-investigation/upload byMonday 21 August 2017.

You can enter what you want to say in the submissions box, about what use you make of the area, what it means to you or how you think you may be affected by change of use from state forest to state or national park. Alternatively you can put these into a separate document and attach to the submission, so no need to write anything in the box.

If other members want to put their views here we can do a consolidated submission for AMTRA.
The older I get, the slower I was.

Hi guys, I decided to put in my own short submission (100 words saying how valuable it was for my family and I to spend time together dirt bike riding, paying the government money for rego to maintain the environment etc etc) as I think it's just a numbers game. The more submissions they receive against such a bullshit proposal the more likely they are to listen.

Cheers Colin

If members want to copy what they submitted
It may encourage other members to do the same
and the committee could do a club submission based on  members submission

  • I have just made a submission. Some of the key points I made included:
  • Existing parks are so under staffed and under budgeted that they are poorly managed, so adding more parks would just make the existing problems worse.
  • Not everyone can take long hikes on foot to enjoy the bush, but must rely on either a 4x4 or trail bike to enable access. Denying these recreational vehicles effectively prevents many people from being able to enjoy the bush.
  • Having traveled extensively across Australia, it is distressing how high some of the camp fees are for few if any facilities. Camping in our wonderful State Forests is free and available for all.
