Had my brush cutter returned not running by dear old dad as it has been on loan
Description I got was, I  just put fuel in it  ran for a couple of seconds then stoped won't start
He checked the plug but being a four stroke I didn't think it fouled a plug as the thing starts every time when I had it
so aero is administered and away she go's for a second or two
Aha fuel is the problem.
Off comes the carbie as the primer bulb is full of fuel thinking blocked jet
strip it down, man these things are small you will need a magnifying glass just to see the jet hole
all good
Back on the motor it goes , go to prime the fuel doesn't feel quite right
Aha out comes the fuel pickup looks good die cast end with felt filter nothing on the outside
rip it off chuck the line back in the fuel primes up fine
of to the bench with the pickup go the suck nothing you pick, pry off the clips felt comes off
WTF no hole
Start prying around low and behold aluminium colour disc fell out  looks like compressed cardboard
so all back together and away she go's
found part on ebay $4.50
So if you brush cutter /chainsaw won't start after period of no fuel start at the tank pickup this little
disc thing does not like being dry

Another tip is to also check for mud-wasp nests in the exhaust outlet first - you may save yourself the necessity of pulling the carby apart in the first place  :)
